Fong Hin Nam 方顯楠

FONG Hin Nam is a Hong Kong-based media artist interested in exploring different forms of space with photography and other emerging imaging technologies. First trained as a visual artist and photographer, Fong expanded his practice in the area of new media art during his postgraduate study at the City University of Hong Kong. He jointly presented his artistic research ‘Spatial Photogram’, an expanded photographic research paper at ISEA 2022 with his co-author. This project integrates emerging digital fabrication technologies and the traditional cyanotype printing practice to explore material-based images that introduce space as a density – a completely new method to articulate a representation of space in the context of photographic objectivism. Apart from presenting his practice-based research in academic conferences, Fong also exhibited his works of art in various local and international exhibitions, such as the Chiang Mai Photo Festival 2020 and WMA Open Photo Contest Exhibition – Opportunity! His work Caprice is collected by Hong Kong Baptist University in their AVA Keeper of Studies Collection and Shaw Tower Artworks collection.
