Johannes Pretorius is a South African photographer based in the United Kingdom. His work is experiential, takes a personal perspective, and draws on the traditions of documentary and fine art photography. Through his work, he aims to come to an understanding of his subject, and to visually communicate this to others. Topics of interest include boundaries and reflections on being an outsider.
Johannes is a self-taught photographer, but his analytical and curiosity-driven approach is informed by a background in scientific research. He studied mathematics and computer science. Some of his work has been awarded funding by Arts Council England.
