“1983” was founded in 2019. It is located on the ground floor of a local artist’s ancestral house in a Kam Tin old walled village. Upon application and approval, the space offers visitors for chats, gatherings, seminars, screenings, performances, workshops, live streamings, etc. The half-domestic half-studio setting blurs various socially established borders among cultural workers, as well as bringing them together locally and internationally. Past visiting guests were from Japan, Mexico, Palestine, the United States, China, Taiwan, Britain, Senegal, Norway, Hong Kong, etc.
